The grapefruit diet is one of the earliest known Hollywood fad diets. It dates back to the’30s, and many Hollywood stars of the time swore by it. It remained popular until the mid-1970s, when it became one of the diets that was faxed around from machine to machine, popularly known as xerox lore. The diet is attributed to the Mayo Clinic, which clearly states that it has nothing to do with this diet and that the diet is not good.
The grapefruit diet is essentially like the Atkins diet with the addition of a grapefruit before each meal. The diet only allows three meals each day, with no snacking in between meals. Supposedly a person on this diet could lose 10 pounds in only 10 days.
The distribution was just as far fetched no weight loss for four days then five pounds lost all on the fifth day. It was based on the claim that grapefruit contains some form of fat burning enzymes, something that has never been proven medically.
In 2004 it was proven that the diet may work. 1/2 grapefruit with each meal helped people lose 3.6 pounds in only 12 weeks. Drinking the juice from the grapefruit led to only slightly less weight loss. Some people in the study lost as much as 10 pounds in the 12 week period.
Researchers attributed the weight loss to decreased insulin levels caused by eating grapefruit. However, all the participants slightly enhanced their exercise programs, which may account for the lost weight.
The grapefruit diet works like this:
- Drink eight servings of water a day. – Stop eating when you feel full. – Eat all the listed foods at each meal, don’t skip food as it interferes with fat burning. – The catalyst to the whole process is grapefruit, so don’t cut it. – Drink only up to 1 cup of coffee at meals. – No snacking before or after meals. – You can have Butter that is OK. – No starches or sweets can be eaten. – Meat and vegetables are fine. – It’s important to eat into you’re full because the more you eat the more you will lose. – Skip two days between each 12 day diet period. – Eat one half grapefruit, or drink’ ounce glass of grapefruit, at each meal time.

This exercise is ideal for toning the calves, thighs, bottom and abdominal muscles. Start with 2 sets of ten, while continuing to breathe deeply and slowly try to increase to six sets.
Ballerinas are never fat and that is because they do so many plies. A plie is done by point the toes away from each other, but keeping the heels together. Rotate your feet out from your hips, pull up your stomach and pull down your bottom. Bend your knees outwards and down as far as they will go without your heels leaving the floor. Repeat slowly for 5 sets of 10.

No one has time to exercise 6-8 hours a week. Think, you dont need to actually workout 6-8 hours a week unless youre a tri-athlete. If you just want to burn off fat and pack on muscle you just need a system that will do that.
The way to acquire a fit body is to do bodyweight exercises to warm up, after that start strength training supersets to pack on muscle and then complete your workout with interval training to lose fat quickly.

Thirty-four percent of these commercials were for fast-food restaurants and convenience foods.
The greatest share of food-related commercials were seen on children’s networks, where the commercials were primarily for sugary cereals and sweets, high-fat foods, fast-food restaurant fare, and snacks. Compared with programming for a generalized audience, children’s networks exposed its viewers to 76 percent more food advertisements per hour than the other networks. Young people who watch TV on a children’s network during Saturday morning from 7 to 10 AM see approximately one food commercial every eight minutes.
Older children continue to be shown unhealthful food advertisements. The researchers observed programming such as the music videos offered by BET and MTV. They found that 80 percent of the MTV food commercials were for fast food restaurants, sugary beverages, and sweets.
The authors of the study, which was published in the Journal of Nutrition Education and Behavior, indicated that “Study after study has documented the adverse health effects of food advertising targeting children and adolescents.” They went on to state that “School- and family-based programs that have attempted to reduce children’s media use have shown promise.” But because youngsters are exposed to food commercials by other media, especially the Internet, the authors propose the creation of “nutrition-focused media literary interventions” to help young people understand the economic motivations of food advertisers and the methods the industry applies to increase market for their products. These campaigns, along with others, may help slow down the growing epidemic of childhood obesity.
